A Fine Line - Between Chaos and Creation

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy; I don't mind, I think they're crazy...

Dilbert - enter my world
Good evening, Livejournal (and Facebook)!

"Good evening, Smitty!"

Ah... that's what I like to hear.

Well, today is Day One, and what better way to begin - seeing as I haven't REALLY posted anything other than my FF100 stories and 30 Days of Music since last year's NaBlo (oops :$) - than with a personal update on my life?

Where to start...

Well, I've been working at McDonalds for almost a full year now - still going well.

In the summer, I started a second job - tutoring an eight-year-old boy with reading. And because I mentioned it in passing one day at McD's, one of my managers there asked me a few weeks ago if I would tutor her nine-year-old daughter with math (and sometimes other subjects). So that's been going well - I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would.

As for school, I'm back at university. I'm now in the second year of my Music diploma program (will finish it in April), and considering going back next September to continue with the new BMMA (Bachelor of Music in Musical Arts) program my school's just gotten. School is going well so far, and I'm hoping that wellness continues come Finals time in a month.

As for cadets; I aged out in January from my corps at CPO1 (Chief Petty Officer First Class; aka highest rank attainable), and got one of the best farewells a Chief could ever hope to get. Along with the incredibly touching speeches from the officers as to what an impact I've had (it's really amazing to realize how much you've affected those around you), I got the traditional gift of a beer tankard with my name and dates of 'cadet-hood' (Sept. 2005 - January 2011) on it, and received a surprise gift from the other Chiefs, POs, and volunteer staff - $500. It was the best farewell ever.

Now, as of September, I've gone back to my corps to volunteer as staff; Civilian Volunteer is my 'rank' now. I also have paperwork in to become an actual salute-able, gold bars officer. I can't wait. :)

I think that's about it for now... I'll post a revision tomorrow if I find I've missed anything. :D
