One of nature’s most understated animals is the crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos; or Scavengingus Pestus). Quite a wonder to behold in any part of Surrey or Vancouver, this bird is quite rare. Many avid bird-watchers will sit for hours; sometimes DAYS on an end watching this glorious creature in its natural habitat.

The crow is easily distinguishable from other birds by its colorful plumage. No other bird’s feather coat can quite compare to the brilliance of its feathers – in fact, prolonged viewing exposure to a crow may cause blindness; its colors are so bright.

The crow’s eating habits are quite interesting, as they are very picky birds; hard to please, as it will not simply take whatever it can find out of a garbage receptacle. No, this bird takes great pains in finding only the most high quality food for its young – only the best McDonalds throwaways and food wrappers will do.

Many would say that the crow’s most redeeming feature is its voice. Melodious and sweet, the crow’s singing is a wonderful way to start anyone’s day. It has been said that people have been brought back from the brink of suicide, patched up marriages, and strengthened family relationships, after being so moved by the sound of a crow. Alas, as the bird is so rare, only a select few are able to hear this beautiful sound.

And there we have the crow in a nutshell – one of Mother Nature’s wonderful little hidden surprises that no one would ever expect to find, especially in the wild suburban jungle, where the land is so bleak and barren that few can survive.
