A Fine Line - Between Chaos and Creation

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy; I don't mind, I think they're crazy...

Monday, Week 1 - Wreck This Journal
Dorky John Watson
Hello, all! If you're reading this, then you know today is the day that I start the journey of ruining a book. Now, I actually bought the book Wreck This Journal back in October 2013, but I haven't actually started doing anything to it yet. Therefore, I'm starting now. No time like the present!

First, Before pictures, c. yesterday afternoon... so we can all look back on what great condition this piece of literature was in before I trashed it.

See? Even though it's over a year old, it's still functionally brand new.

Just so you know I'm serious - shots of the book from all angles.

And now, today - the book commanded me to poke holes, so I did. I hope it doesn't mind that I used a pen instead of a pencil.

Holy book page, Batman!

Then I flipped randomly to another page. I know it's a horrible trace, but whatever. This page is going to be the least of the journal's concerns when I get through with it.

Technically, I did this one right after I got the book, but it's the only one I'd completed. Hence why you're getting three things today instead of two.

I re-cracked the spine, just to make it current, as it had been flattened out from sitting in a stack of other notebooks for the past year.

Now the book won't close properly. I'm more proud of this than I probably should be.

The stage has been set. The book can only go downhill from here. :D

Join me tomorrow for an update to the behemoth that is The Smitty Story!

Gasp! Vandalism!

Part of me is twitching at that cracked spine, and part of me is kind of wanting to join in. :)

I know the feeling. I think that's subconsciously why I've been putting it off for a year - the entertainment value is there, but my mind just can't get past the idea of deliberately ruining a book. Hopefully it'll get easier now that I've actually started, though. :P

I've seen those books and thought it was a cool concept. The idea of wrecking an actual book gives me the heebie-jeebies, but since those are more like colouring books it just sounds like fun!
