A Fine Line - Between Chaos and Creation

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy; I don't mind, I think they're crazy...

Day Three Hundred Sixty-Five (Aka: In Which The End Has Arrived)

So, here we are.  January 1 - December 31, 2013.  Three hundred sixty-five days later, and this project has reached its conclusion.

Before shot for Dec 31

A lot of things have happened this year - way more than I could ever have predicted way back in January.  As a matter of fact, looking at the prediction list I made back on Day 5, it seems really sparse.  So here's what happened this year for me:

- I turned 21
- I got baptized
- I had surgery to remove a lump I've had for a few years
- I went to Quadra for the second time as officer staff, and I did get to work in the same department/job as last year (Inter Sail DivO)
- I went to my first nerd/fandom convention when I came home (BronyCan)
- I got laid off from my job due to having gone to Quadra
- I got engaged
- I got a new job; the first I've ever gotten on my own merits (ie: nobody knew me/hired me because they knew me or my family)
- I completed 3 officer courses (Supply Officer, Basic, and Occupational)
- I stayed as Supply Officer for my third year in a row
- I got promoted to A/SLt, a commissioned rank
- I finished my on again, off again house-sitting stints
- I released a single on SoundCloud
- I started leading worship for my church's Youth Group (a big step for me)
- I managed to somehow write the most pseudo-narcissistic thing ever about myself here
- I created a new comic strip: Dead Boss
- I got laid off for the second time

So, with that in mind, 2013 has been a pretty eventful year.

And yes, I did complete the writing project (technically speaking).  What have I learned from it?

a) Making a list of topics doesn't really do a lot (but it was nice knowing I had them as stand-bys).
b) It is tedious sometimes, trying to come up with something to say every day (even with prompts).
c) It's a lot harder than you think it'll be.
d) Quantity over quality definitely applies here (I meant to have a lot more posts that had interesting things to see/read, but I ended up with mainly a mass of short entries of how my days went).
e) More people read/kept up with this journal than I expected.
f) I cheated and back-dated a lot more than I thought I would (hence the 'technically-speaking' above).  Some days there just wasn't time to post, so I did it later.  So there is one post for every day except for that one day where there was two, but if we were legalistic and didn't count back-dating, I would have failed the challenge on January 8.

Conclusion/Final Question: Would I do it again?

Answer: Probably not.  I spammed LJ, Facebook, and Twitter enough with my daily updates this year; I have no desire to bother people on a constant basis with my kind of dull home life (and random assortment of other things than I post about).  But I will be trying to post more regularly about things.  What, I don't know, yet.  That being said, it was a good experience, and it'll be nice to be able to look back on this one day.

Anyway, it's been a great year, and you've been a wonderful audience, if a semi-captive one.  :P

To those of you who read this (and I know there are a fair amount of people who do, because I've seen the page view stats, and also because some of you have actually told me), you're awesome, and thanks for the support - I don't know that I'd have made it through some days without your help.

Also, I'd like to give a big load of thanks to crazy_square, who I coerced into undertaking this massive endeavour with me.  Thanks for the view into your life for the past year, and thanks for putting up with me and my insanity.

See you all in 2014!
