I Am Clever

A Fine Line - Between Chaos and Creation

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy; I don't mind, I think they're crazy...

Day One Hundred Thirty-Nine (First Aid, Day 2/Travel Day)
Forever Alone Pinkie
I'd also forgotten how gross First Aid can be.  We covered emergency childbirth (yesterday), wounds, bleeding, and amputations.  Ugh.  Nastiest things on the planet, and exactly why I was a Music major, and not anything medical-related.

Kinda depressed to be going home already; not gonna lie.  I wish I didn't have to leave all the cool people I've met behind. :(  On the plus side, I'll (hopefully) get to see some of them this summer (at least 3 will be working out of CFB Comox), and there might be a potential semi-reunion for the 14(/40) of us who couldn't stay for OTC.

This has been a really informative and awesome 11 days, and I'm sad that it's over.  Oh well.  Onward and upward!

Memorable/amusing (at least to me) quotes:

"Overwatch your cadets."

"You tell the dispatcher what's happened, and they'll figure out that you need an ambulance, and send you a firetruck."

"Tell [the casualty] the truth, but don't be all "Ooh, that's bad... yeah, you probably won't survive."

"How can you tell from looking at me that I have a pulse?  What can you tell, besides the fact that I'm ridiculously good-looking?"

"Make sure to talk to still talk to/explain what you're doing to unconscious casualties.  They can still hear you."
"Noted.  John, I'm taking your wallet..."
"And all your jewelry..."
"It's the ambulance fee!"

"If I was injured, I wouldn't be all "HELP HELP HELP" [like they do in the instructional vids].  I'd be all MOTHERF****R!  I've cut off my F***ING FINGER!  It hurts like a B***H!"

"If it ain't raining, it ain't training."

"You need to frolic through the fields of daisies!"

"Scoochie scooch!" [Ed. note: One of our instructors actually said this several times.  Irony was that he said it right after saying we were "all responsible adults, here".]
