Day Seventy-Eight (Aka: Career Day In Movies/TV - Mini Rant)
I Am Clever
Notice how whenever there's a Career Day at a kid's school in movies or TV, a lot of times the plot usually seems to center around how some kid is ashamed to bring his/her parent in due to their job type?

I say that those kids are self-centred, entitled jerks. Your dad/mom is out there, working hard earning money to support you, to put a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in your stomach, etc., and you have the nerve to basically say "Sorry, Dad/Mom. Your job just doesn't cut it. We can no longer be seen together or thought to be affiliated with one another."

EXCUSE ME? My dad's an elementary school janitor (a generally declared "uncool" job), and he's freaking awesome. Last I checked, the majority of you people here in North America (or Europe, if I've somehow attracted readers from there), went to some kind of elementary school. Or just use the bathroom in general, for that matter. Chances are, you'd find it SUPER DISGUSTING if the place wasn't cleaned. I've heard horror stories from my dad of the messes left in bathrooms (and sometimes classrooms) that he's had to deal with. So I'd say that you snot-headed kids all owe people like my dad a lot more than your contempt.

Who says that somehow little Johnny's dad is cooler because he's a lawyer? Or that Mary's mom is more awesome because she's VP of some company? PEOPLE LIKE MY DAD HAVE JOBS SO THAT JOHN AND MARY'S PARENTS CAN POOP IN CLEANLINESS. YOU OWE THEM BIG-TIME RESPECT AND MAD PROPS.

So, that basically says it all. Kids disrespecting their parents' jobs based on some ridiculous social standing is absolute crap. Suck it up and thank your parents for earning money SO YOU CAN BE IN SCHOOL IN THE FIRST PLACE.
