Day Six (Aka: The Pain)

So, yesterday my mom asked me to go walking with her around the track near our house. I, wanting to get more active, agreed.

It started off like every other time I've gone - powerwalk half a lap, and jog the rest. As time went on (about 4-5 laps later), I noticed I was getting out of breath/whatnot sooner than usual. That wasn't too unexpected - I mean, it's been months since I've done something active like that. Anyway, I got to lap 7, and had to stop both to re-tie my shoe, and because I was feeling kind of light-headed. Needless to say, it took me longer to tie my shoe than it really should have.

I got to the next lap, and about 3/4 through it, the light-headed feeling came back, along with a really strong urge to throw up. After that, I had to stagger over to a bench and sit for a bit, to just get my breath back and get myself to stop feeling like I was gonna pass out. Thankfully, I managed to get up after a few minutes, and finish my last two laps (bringing me to 4kms walked/jogged).

So, while my mom thought it might have been due to the fact that we've all been sick for the past 2 weeks, I knew that was only part of the problem. Still recovering from a nasty cold didn't help my situation, but I know most of that was due to the fact that my body was rebelling what I put it through.

As for the afore-mentioned pain... that kicked in today. My calf muscles have been basically screaming at me all day, thus forcing me to walk around like an old man, and making stairs a horrible challenge.

...and this, in a nutshell, sums up why I really need to go work out again.
