Happy Apocalypse Year! Only 355 days left and counting!
So cool it hurts

Hello, 2012! I most definitely had a memorable start to this year.

1. First off, I got forgotten at home this morning. My mom went to church early with my brother (he was doing sound technician stuff for the worship team and had to be there for practice), and upon hearing my alarm go off at 8:30 (the usual time), asked if I was coming with them. I said that I'd come later, and promptly fell back asleep, forgetting to reset my alarm.

The next time I regained consciousness, it was 10:30... the time when our church service starts. That really woke me up, especially when I discovered how quiet it was, and the fact that the van was no longer in the driveway. I found out later that my dad, hearing nothing from my room earlier, had assumed I'd gone ahead with my mom. My mom, of course, thought I'd be coming with my dad. My parents both had a good laugh about it when they found this out. I didn't know this at first, though, which brings me to the second point...

2. I was freaking out, as my parents have left brothers at home sometimes for their refusal to get out of bed (and the brothers got in trouble later, of course). Therefore, in an effort to try and make up for my not going to church, I decided to clean my room, as my mom has been asking me to do it for ages. And I actually pulled it off (which is a miracle in and of itself)! I can actually see my desk again! :D Now how long it'll STAY this way... who knows.

3. Went to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows today, and it was worth every penny. I loved the first movie, and I had high expectations for the sequel. Thankfully, it didn't let me down. I want to watch it again. :D

4. This isn't really about the new year, but on December 30, I finished my SCARFDIS, after a lot of hard work. 6 weeks, 26 balls of yarn, $180, 2 sets of knitting needles, numerous hand cramps and other setbacks, I now have a wonderfully long and colourful scarf to show for it. I had to restart the whole thing two weeks ago, as I found out I was using the wrong size/weight/gauge of yarn. So I left the almost half-finished Mark I in the capable hands of a friend, and I bought all new yarn in the appropriate gauge to start the Mark II, ramping my output to over double what it was before. (I wanted to finish before the new year began. I know, I'm weird.) Here's some pictures. Not the best, but at least you'll get a bit of an idea of what it looks like. I'm very proud of it. :)

The SCARFDIS, Mark II in my hallway to show the length.

The SCARFDIS, Mark II from the other end, with my youngest brother (7 years old; just over 4' tall) lying next to it as a size reference.

Me wearing the SCARFDIS. :D I know the lighting's not the best, but people don't really know how to use my camera properly and I had to make do. :/

Anyway, hope your new year has gotten off to as great as start as mine has! :)
